Description:

How do you build authentic stories into the learning experiences you create? In this session, we'll start with mining your own life and experiences for relevant stories. We'll pull from disciplines like film and writing to help you shape stories that can facilitate connections. You'll also learn about the characteristics of stories that are most useful for facilitating learning. Finally, we'll discuss helping learners find and tell their own stories. You'll leave this session with templates and strategies that will help you apply what you've learned about facilitating with stories back on the job.

Applications:

  • Apply strategies for facilitating with story.
  • Use methods for mining your own life and experiences for useful stories.
  • Structure stories so that the intent is clear, the listeners are captivated, and the connection to the content is evident.

Facilitator:


Hadiya Nuriddin has two decades of experience in design, development, and facilitation. Her firm Duets Learning has worked with a wide array of companies on a variety of topics. She speaks at events and industry conferences and also teaches courses for ATD. Hadiya holds an MEd in curriculum studies, an MA in writing, and a CPTD. She is the author of the book StoryTraining: Selecting and Shaping Stories That Connect.
