Description:

In the US roughly 85% of individuals on the autism spectrum are either unemployed or underemployed. To combat this statistic, a movement of companies and organizations have been working together to help create more avenues for employment. Learn some of the benefits of neurodiversity in the workplace and some of the best practices in the field.

Presenter:

Joseph Riddle is the director of the Neurodiversity in the Workplace program. In this role, he has led a team to design and partner in implementing hiring programs for neurodiverse individuals. Companies such as SAP and their Autism at Work program, Dell, and Bank of America have participated in hiring programs allowing the creation of a network of employers and talented individuals on the spectrum. These companies, with support from Joe and his team, are leading the way in demonstrating to the American workforce that neurodiverse talent is both valuable and productive. Utilizing experience in the corporate world along with a B.S. in Psychology and a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from George Washington University, he has spent the last few years advocating for systems change that will allow for easier transitions into meaningful employment for the autism community.
