    Karen Basile is the chief learning officer of Johnson Controls enterprise learning function.   Karen has been with Johnson Controls and Tyco (pre-acquisition) for four years.  Karen’s work involves leading a global learning team in leadership development and core skills development programs and curriculum; promoting sales effectiveness and development. Karen has over 23 years’ experience in Talent and HR roles.  Previously, Karen was the Talent Management Leader for VWR, a global lab supply and distribution company. In that capacity she was responsible for talent acquisition, talent strategy, leadership development, and learning.  She also held HR and Talent roles for over 5 years at General Electric, as the global training leader for sales and marketing across all GE businesses, and talent and HR roles within GE Energy.     Susan Gunn is an Executive Director in the People Advisory Services practice of EY. A global business executive with deep expertise in the Human Capital function and more than 25 years of HR experience, Susan has advised executive leaders on matters pertaining to HR strategy and transformation, executive compensation, mergers & acquisitions and C-Suite, including CEO, succession. Most recently, Susan was the SVP of Global Talent and Compensation for Aramark. In this role, Susan had leadership responsibility for Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Learning & Development, Compensation, HR Technology, HR Analytics, HR Shared Services and HR Transformation. Prior to Aramark, Susan was CHRO of Gardner Denver, a $2.3 billion, publicly traded, global manufacturing company with 40 manufacturing operations in more than 20 countries. In 2013, the National Diversity Council named her one of Pennsylvania’s Most Powerful & Influential Women.     Eric Brand | Sr. Director of Training | Endo Pharmaceuticals

    Eric Brand is the Senior Director of Training at Endo Pharmaceuticals, where he has responsibility for all aspects of talent development, from new sales rep onboarding to leadership development. He has close to 30 years in the health care industry. An engineer by training, Eric started his career in healthcare in R&D, then Regulatory Affairs, after which he moved over to the field-based part of the business as both a sales representative and a District Manager. For the past dozen years, Eric has either been in Training, or had the training and development function report to him directly. He has worked in some of the largest companies in the sector and has also been a part of start-ups. Eric’s approach to training is pragmatic, and geared towards solving an identified problem, with an expected business outcome in mind.

    Originally from Akron, Ohio, in 2012, David Horning moved to New York City to study sketch comedy writing and improvisation. After developing 2 web series' and performing around the city, he produced "Laundry Day," a sketch comedy show featured at Carolines on Broadway in Times Square, which was selected as part of the 2014 New York Comedy Festival. Inspired by the power of laughter, David now uses fun characters, comedy sketches, and his trusty slideshows to entertain, educate, and inspire so that others may use the power of their thoughts to build a foundation for their lives.

    Our passion is located at the intersection of our interests and talents, it fills a need, and is centered around giving to others. This revelation inspired me to return to the Northeast Ohio area in the fall of 2014. As an avid researcher of the practical impact of human behavior, self-development, leadership, management, and positive psychology, I saw an opportunity to use what I had learned to deliver a more meaningful message than just comedy. Seeing a need for perspective in the world, I decided to fuse motivational speaking and comedy together, and I have spoken for businesses, professional organizations, service clubs, college students and faculty, and convention audiences around the country. Being able to inspire laughter, empowerment, and growth inspires me to wake up each morning with one mission in mind: to inspire others to do the same.

    John J. Shimp, CFP®, CRPC®, APMA®, CDFA™, CLTC, CFS is a Private Wealth Advisor and Managing Partner of RidgePoint Financial Partners™, a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc. He began his career over 16 years ago as an employee advisor, promoted to district manager and since 2007 an independent franchisee of Ameriprise. His business was built organically and he now helps lead a branded team of ten financial advisors and eight support staff. They collectively manage and/or advise nearly $1B of client assets. He is Life Member of the National Eagle Scout Association, active volunteer for various organizations, St. Joseph St. Robert School Advisory Board (Current Chairman), Boy Scouts of America, Cub Pack 318 Committee Chair, and spent over 21 years on the board of The Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia (Former Vice Chair). A Philadelphia native and proud alum of St. Joseph’s University, Shimp now resides in Bucks County with his wife, Carolyn, and two children, Connor and Kelsey.

    Liz Nover - ID Specialist & Contractor to the Stars

    Liz Nover is a lifelong educator who made the transition to workplace learning. This was a subtle career shift in her opinion, but it was difficult to convince prospective employers that she had the skills and mindset they required. Starting from a return to school, involvement in professional associations, and a graduate student internship at age 51, she assumed progressively more responsible contract roles in Instructional Design, and has gradually built her credibility in the field. Liz will share the highlights of her path, and the challenges and joys (yes, there are some!) of consulting.
