Too often we jump into our tools and start developing learning before we fully understand our audience, testing our ideas and working with just what we are toldby a stakeholder. This can lead to dozens of changes or a poor reception to a new launch. Whether you are creating a new project, developing an app, or launching a new website, this session will help you find the latest strategies in brainstorming and prototyping. The speaker will highlight specific tools, techniques, and work flows to help you kick off any project the right way. Learn how to communicate a concept, beginning with low-fidelity prototypes; gather user feedback; and translate it into high-fidelity prototypes before you start development. You will learn which tools and techniques to apply to your prototype, including techniques for paper, web, and app prototyping, and how to utilize new web-based apps to accelerate your process.

Note: Please bring a laptop or tablet and a smart phone if you want to participate in the hands-on sections.

    Application on the Job:

    • Apply prototyping to your process.
    • Explore techniques for paper, web, and app-based prototyping.
    • Learn how to collect feedback, review, and prioritize next steps.
    • Use mobile-based apps and tools for quick prototyping.

L&D Philadelphia is pleased to announce this workshop facilitated by none other than Jim Kirkpatrick from the ground-breaking Kirkpatrick family. The One and Only Kirkpatrick® Company continues to pioneer research and application in the training evaluation & performance space, taking up the mantle laid down by Jim's father, the late world-renowned Donald Kirkpatrick

Training is still "on trial," charged with incurring expenses in excess of the value it provides to the organization. Training must reinvent itself and transcend the classroom.

Attend this hands-on Kirkpatrick workshop to learn tactics for building programs and initiatives that enhance on-the-job performance and impact the bottom line. The information and activities included in this workshop focus on specific tactics at Kirkpatrick Levels 3 and 4. You will learn ideas that all professionals can implement in their own organizations.

Whether you are new to learning and development or an industry veteran, this workshop will teach you the newest and most powerful ways to implement the four levels, directly from the creators of the Kirkpatrick Model.

    Performance Objectives

After this session, participants will be able to:

Define the true desired result for any program or initiative.

Determine specific tactics to influence on-the-job behavior for a program or initiative.

Integrate elements that enhance on-the-job behavior and bottom-line results into a program planning process.

Follow-up: Free online resources guide; virtual badge that you can use to advertise your new credential as a workshop participant

We will be hosting a Fall Networking event after the workshop at Landmark Bar&Grill on Market and 33rd Street. You can register for both events to save money on the networking event.

    ADAM GRANT

Building a Culture of Originality, Generosity and Resilience

"One of the world's 25 most influential management thinkers!"

Adam Grant is Wharton's top-rated professor and a New York Times writer on work and psychology. He has been recognized as one of the world's 25 most influential management thinkers, Fast Company's 100 most creative people in business, the world's 40 best business professors under 40, Fortune's "40 Under 40," HR's most influential international thinkers, and one of Malcolm Gladwell's favorite thinkers.

Join us at the 11th annual PSPS Leadership Forum on October 10th to hear Adam’s in-depth discussion based on more than a decade of his research and consulting, Adam will address these questions:

    • How can leaders overcome fear and doubt to build cultures that welcome diverse perspectives and honest feedback?

    • Why do late entrants typically beat first movers, friendly managers end up being the least supportive, devil’s advocates often backfire, but contrarian opinions retain value even when they’re wrong?

    • Why are the values that help organizations prosper early on the same ones that thwart their growth later?

    • What are the key strategies for building a culture of productive generosity?

    • What does it take to develop productive interactions, and how can leaders, managers and employees use this understanding to build richer networks, more innovative teams and more rewarding service relationships?

    • How can organizations improve practices around selection and hiring, recognition and rewards to boost revenue, efficiency and satisfaction?

Grant is the author of two New York Times best-selling books translated into 35 languages. Originals explores how individuals champion new ideas and leaders fight groupthink; it is a #1 national bestseller and one of Amazon's best books of February 2016. Give and Take examines why helping others drives our success, and was named one of the best books of 2013 by Amazon, Apple, the Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal-as well as one of Oprah's Riveting Reads and Harvard Business Review's ideas that shaped management. Grant's third book, Option B with Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, debuts in April (2017) on facing adversity and building resilience.

Grant's studies have been highlighted in best-selling books such as Quiet by Susan Cain, Drive and To Sell Is Human by Daniel Pink, Thrive by Arianna Huffington, A Path Appears by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, and David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell.

We don’t teach content; we teach people. That’s why it’s time to start focusing on context. People are drowning in all of the free content that is available since the Internet arrived in 1995. It’s time for an update: Make Training A Want To (Not A Have To) gives you the insight and tools to reverse engineer the ultimate training in order to facilitate learning experiences that create measurable results with your people and compelling reasons to apply the learning. This changes everything.

Today’s training has to be energizing, interactive, fun, and full of valuable content, too! But too many trainers still stand behind a podium—a 20th century practice. It’s time for an update: this experience gives you the insight and tools to help design trainings that create lasting impact with your learners. Content is the loser here; because it’s NOT about “what” people learn. This is about becoming a context expert. Discover training practices that go against standard practice.

You'll walk away with critical and practical strategies to change the learning dynamic:

    · Engage learners with our unique and highly-researched Learn-Say-Do-Reflect Model to increase engagement, retention, and fun.

    · Improve your training atmosphere, increase retention to 90%, and create a consistent system for all trainers and facilitators to do the same.

    · Be a part of the art and science to make training fun again.

    · Learn how to become a strategic partner and performance consultant for your organization, not just a trainer.

If you are tired or bored with ineffective training formats, attend this session to transform any training session into an easy-to-apply and unforgettable experience, which will make you look like a hero!

Times are changing.  Training is evolving.

Although ‘in person’ training will always have an important role to play in developing people, teams and organizations -  ‘Blended’ delivery which incorporates high quality, immersive eLearning is where it is at.

The modern learner has far higher expectations, which often involves being able to ‘pull’ on learning when required as opposed to being ‘pushed’ through a training course.  This has recently been illustrated through the ATD ‘State of the Industry’ report, which highlighted the increased use of online delivery by organizations.

Although there are now hundreds of authoring tools available to create this engaging online content – Adobe Captivate remains one of the industry leaders.

This 1-day Beginners Bootcamp will provide ‘hands on’ training in how to use key features of Captivate to create professional eLearning content.

Participants will be required to bring with them their own laptop with the 30-day free trial version of Adobe Captivate pre-downloaded (if you do not already subscribe to Adobe Captivate).

By the end of this 1-day course you will be able to

-Understand the eLearning instructional design process.
-Recognize the role of Adobe Captivate Draft (works in conjunction with Adobe Captivate) in the instructional design process.
-Locate and use key tools including text, images, shapes, audio, video, animations and characters in order to create engaging eLearning modules.
-Include interactive features including buttons, click boxes and rollovers with the aim of engaging the end user
-Create and publish an eLearning module in HTML5, which can be viewed on any device including desktop, laptop, tablet and mobile.

    Who is this course for?

-L&D professionals who are looking to move into online eLearning content development.
-Individuals who are new to using eLearning rapid authoring tools.
-eLearning developers who are new to Adobe Captivate.

Who is this course not for?

    -Advanced users of Adobe Captivate.
-Individuals who are experienced at eLearning development.

    Requirements

-We will notify participants 30 days before the event as a reminder to download the trail version of Adobe Captivate.
-Please do not leave this until the day of the training.
-Make sure to bring a power cord with you
