The year's event features a deep dive into Learning Technologies and Learning Methodologies via:

    20+ concurrent presentations

Hardware & software vendor product demos

    Expo Hall Exhibitors

    Exhibitor Prize Treasure Hunt

    Printed Conference Guide

    Breakfast, Lunch, and Snacks

    AND MUCH MORE!

PLUS this year's conference will feature our first ever "Inside the Actor's Studio" interview keynote by Jim Scherrer, founding Director of the Philly-based Compuseum, and Bill Mauchly, the son of one of the inventor's of Philly's own first computer, the ENIAC.

Long before Silicon Valley, Philly was the hub of vacuum tube electronics and the birthplace of the first general-purpose electronic computer, the ENIAC. That giant machine was the big bang that started the information age and the digital revolution. The ENIAC’s inventors, Eckert and Mauchly, also launched the first computer startup and bootstrapped software as a business, right here in PHILLY!.

Jim Scherrer will interview Bill Mauchly to bring a personal perspective to Philly’s little known computer history, a fascinating story of inspiration, innovation, and a little intrigue. In a far-ranging conversation, they will revisit some of trials and tribulations surrounding the computer itself and an interesting childhood in perhaps the first family of computing, the Mauchly's.

    Smash Your Sales Stereotypes!

    21 Good Sales Behaviors

That Will Change Your (Work) Life

Every conversation, every interaction, every connection we have with a person influences their perception of us. Everything we do creates impressions and attitudes and feelings. We create these impressions in seconds, but people can remember them for years. Every interaction is an opportunity for us to create powerful and positive impressions on people.

Every conversation we have with every person we meet every day is a selling opportunity.  “Everyone’s in sales”-and we are always selling because selling is as natural as breathing and like breathing, we are doing it all the time.

It’s true, its undeniable and it matters to our success.

In his high energy and thought-provoking keynote, “Smashing Your Sales Stereotypes” Todd Cohen will show us how we are all possess the 21 behaviors that are good selling behaviors. When we know how to use and harmonize these behaviors, then will be better and more successful at selling ourselves to achieve what we want, need and deserve!

Maybe you are an internal practitioner that needs to convince a business partner or your manager of a design idea or a training strategy. Maybe you are a solo practitioner or contractor trying to land your next assignment or build rapport with a new client. Maybe you are staring at the job market hoping to discover that one thing that will set you apart from other applicant. Regardless of your current state, you will walk away from this workshop with actionable insights that will help you sell your work, your ideas, and yourself.

Attendees will receive a free copy of Todd's latest whitepaper which will serve as the foundation for his upcoming third book!

If you’re reading this, then you are in sales. We are ALL part of a sales culture whether you are in the “C” suite, on the sales team, in the legal department, or in HR; whether you own your company or are the receptionist in a Fortune 500 company. And I’m here to help you not only understand that everyone’s in sales, I’m here to help you adapt and adopt the elements of a successful sales culture.

Unlike traditional “sales coaches,” who focus only on sales teams, I work with both sales and non-sales professionals and show them how everything he or she does impacts the client’s and their colleague’s decision-making process and how everyone can and does contribute to the growth and profitability of the business. That’s a Sales Culture.

I’m honored to have worked with some tremendous companies, some of whom have been kind enough to share their thoughts.

Want to grow your career in Learning & Development? Then you need to know how to design e-Learning. It's just that simple. But perhaps you don't know where to start? Or maybe you don't want to learn the basics on your own? Or you just need a safe learning environment where you can receive immediate feedback as you go?  Join local leader Rich Herbert and  L&D Philadelphia co-Founder & President John Luczkowski for a hands-on walkthrough on how to design for your first  e-Learning module.

Attendees will outline the basics concepts of e-Learning design, identify the necessary requirements to gather before beginning to design and develop a course, review basic e-Learning terminology, review their instructional design process and techniques to incorporate components necessary to designing effective e-Learning into their current skill set, and will work side by side with our facilitator and each other to build their first online course.

Before the workshop, attendees must complete the following actions:

    1. Download a free 30 day trial of Articular Storyline from articulate.com

    2. Install and test that the software works.

    3. Watch the introduction videos that appear on the Storyline home-screen once you start the program.

    4. Bring a laptop, power chord, and a PowerPoint presentation that you want to convert to an e-Learning Module.

    5. Bring questions, concerns, and ideas to share with the facilitator and each other.

    6. Bring ideas, media files - sounds, pictures, video, etc, that they may want to use in their course.

    7. Come prepared to review key terms and concepts, participate, and build a course.

By the end of this session, attendees will walk away with a fully or partially completed e-Learning module which they can finish on their own.

Don't have a powerpoint or other presentation or source document you want to turn into an e-Learning Module? No worries, just email our facilitator at john@ldphilly.com to receive files a few days ahead of time that you can use to build a course!

Rich Herbert serves as the Manager of Learning Systems and Standards for Comcast. Previously he's worked as a program manager, e-Learning developer, and instructor for Comcast, PHH Mortgage, and several other Fortune 1000 companies. His experience includes leading large scale projects on forth both large, enterprise wide systems as well as compliance and technical training on complex processes.

John Luczkowski is the Co-Founder and Co-President of the Learning & Development Professionals of Greater Philadelphia. As Co-President John serves as leader of programming, website administrator, board secretary, and chief task master. In his professional career, John has spent 15 years in educational and training roles from Teacher, to Instructional Designer, to LMS Administrator, to Training Manager. Now with Comcast, John manages training for Comcast's Field Sales organization - or about 25% of the sales agents, support staff, and field leaders across the country. A instructional design junkie by day, and a non-profit runner by night, John believes that good design starts way before you open a software program or start writing training material. Good instructional design - and good e-Learning design begins with the upfront analysis work.

Before the workshop, attendees must complete the following actions:

    1. Download a free 30 day trial of Articular Storyline from articulate.com

Go ahead go and find a hotter buzzword in the L&D industry over the past few years. We dare you. You won't find many. In fact, you'd be lucky to find half a dozen more talked about trends in our industry. What are we referring to you ask? Microlearning. Join L&D Philadelphia and New York Based Alex Khurgin for an interactive session on designing and developing "microlearning". Alex will share insights and help you understand the basics and develop a game plan for when and where to implement this "tiny" strategy.

The modern employee has 1% of their week to focus on training. What can we do with that roughly 24 minutes a week? Turns out, a lot. Armed with digestible and easily accessible micro-learning experiences, we can create meaningful changes in behavior across our organizations.

Participants will come away from this session having learned a step-by-step process for creating effective micro-learning experiences.

More specifically, they will learn to:

    - build a business case for micro-learning

    - create micro-learning experiences that capture and keep attention

    - launch spaced-out micro-learning campaigns to make learning stick

Alex Khurgin is the founder of Point of Need Solutions, where he helps leading organizations build modern learning cultures. For 7 years, he led learning innovation at Grovo, a microlearning provider. Prior to that he was one of the first employees working on adaptive learning technology at Knewton. Alex's background in philosophy, specifically the philosophy of mind and how human beings perceive the world, makes him passionate about using technology and new approaches to help people learn better and faster. He has presented on the future of learning, technology, and work to audiences from San Francisco to Shenzhen.
